Me and a few faimily members took a little trip out to bancroft to collect some minerals the other day.
this was the coolest site of the day, and our first. it was about a 20min hike out to the site. we had the site to ourselves the whole time we were there which was nice. the whole site is covered in really nice pieces of fluorite, to the point that the gravel in the area was made of fluorite. The interior walls of the trench are all made up of calcite with really big veins of fluorite in it. we stayed for about 4 or 5 hours. the trip in wasnt bad but the trip out sucked so much, i almost passed out from exhaustion by the time we had got back to the car
our second site of the day, about a 15min drive from the previous one, and about a 10min walk to the site. this place was kinda boring compared to the last one, but i got a few pieces of diopside and a little sheet of molybdenite. we stuck around here for about an hour before we left
we stopped here for 15min on our way to the cn rock dump, there wasnt much of interest here. we came looking for hematite but all i got was a piece of granite for the sake of having something to show here for the site
our last stop of the day. the pile is made up of huge chunks of plagioclase feldspar. our goal was to find some sodalite and zircons. we found no zircons and i only saw a couple streaks of sodalite, but i got some huge feldspar crystals which was awesome
